The plot
The price of sugar per kilogram has almost quadrupled over the past 8 years. In the middle of last year, a significant portion of Poland’s stockpile of “sweet gold” disappeared under mysterious circumstances. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, who tirelessly assured that there would be no sugar shortage, recently resigned. Recently, another substantial amount of sugar has gone missing. All warehouses and wholesalers are “emptied out,” and just recently, the last secret reserves have “evaporated” under mysterious circumstances.
Is the constantly rising cost of beet cultivation really to blame for this situation, and is sugar rationing in supermarkets just a marketing trick, or does the truth lie elsewhere? Could it be a conspiracy involving the sugar mafia and market speculators? Or perhaps it’s the doing of the xylitol lobby or the stevia fanatics?! Only our Participants can find the answers to these and other questions. Will they solve the mystery and restore balance to the sugar market? Let’s hope so, because otherwise… this will be our last sugar!
Our Investigators will have limited time, but intuition, cleverness, and perseverance will help them solve this extremely difficult mystery, so that smiles and happiness may once again return to the faces of those who consume sugar (of course, in limited and health-appropriate doses).
